Introduction
The state of Gujarat has been
at the vanguard of industrialization in India since independence,
and today ranks amongst the foremost states in terms of Foreign
Direct Investment and in terms of number of projects in the
pipeline. The high level of industrialization has meant an
ever-increasing demand for energy. In addition, Gujarat has been a
favoured destination for the fuel/feedstock intensive industries
such as fertilizers and petrochemicals. The ever-increasing demand
for energy translates into a corresponding increase in demand for
fuels. There is also a growing focus on the need to treat fuel as a
critical and strategic resource, which will sustain economic
development within the State and also enable the State to maintain
its competitive advantage. Looking to the ever-increasing demand for
fuel, Gujarat State Fuel Management Company (GSFMC) has been
incorporated and promoted by leading state sector companies viz.
GSFC, GNFC, GEB, GIPCL, GPCL and GSPC with an objective to act as an
aggregator of the fuel requirement in the state of Gujarat. GSFMC
provides comprehensive range of commercial, technical and legal
advisory services for efficient and economic fuel management.
